About Us

Stafford Coastal Cruising Club was formed in February 1981 by members of a navigation class held at Stafford College of Further Education who thought Stafford Boat Club a convivial place to meet and talk about boats and sailing during the winter months.

The Club still meets at Stafford Boat Club, Maplewood, Wildwood, Stafford ST17 4SG.  This is a large, modern, well-equipped venue with a licensed bar overlooking open countryside and the marina at Hazelstrine on the Staffordshire and Worcester canal.  We are very fortunate to have use of this excellent facility.

The original venue for meetings was a wooden club hut belonging to Stafford Boat Club whose members, over the years, have built and developed the magnificent Club House that now stands on the site.

Stafford Coastal Cruising Club also has evolved and developed over the years.

The Club is RYA affiliated, a recognised RYA Training Centre and organises courses:

RYA Day Skipper Course
RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance
RYA First Aid course
RYA VHF/SRC Course

Each year a Spring Cruise in Company is arranged by club members, sailing from different locations around the uk.

The original constitution stated that ‘The objects for which the Club is formed are to encourage and develop an interest in and understanding of all aspects of cruising. Neither boat ownership nor sailing/cruising experience are required for membership’.
