Jimmy Cornell has influenced the contemporary cruising scene more than any other sailor. An accomplished navigator, public speaker and author he has sailed over 200,000 miles in all the oceans of the World, from Antarctica to the Arctic, including three circumnavigations.
He founded the highly successful ARC transatlantic rally – subsequently organising 34 transatlantic, two transpacific and six round the world rallies involving over 15,000 sailors.
Jimmy conceived the Garcia Exploration 45 as the perfect cruising boat for both high latitudes and tropical waters, successfully navigating the Northwest Passage in the prototype. His most recent boat, Aventura Zero, was a fully electric boat with zero carbon dioxide footprint, reflecting his concern for the environment.
