Stafford Coastal Cruising Club is an RYA Accredited Training Centre and over the years has trained and qualified many members (and non members) as Day Skippers (shorebased) theory course .
This year the course we are looking to start a new course on Friday the 10th of January which will consist of 16 sessions each running from 09:00 to 12:00 on Fridays through to April at a venue in Stone so that skippers may gain their shorebased qualification before the Summer.
Course topics include:

the essentials of coastal navigation and pilotage

electronic charts

position fixing

plotting a course to steer

weather forecasting and meteorology

tides

collision regulations

construction, parts and equipment of a cruising boat

emergency and safety procedures including distress calls, use of flares, safety harnesses, lifejackets and liferafts
